Get Inked for One Billion Rising

One Billion Rising is an annual global event that takes place every Valentine's Day. As a day of empowerment and awareness, it is meant to encourage women and men throughout the world to rise against violence against women. As a tattoo enthusiast, I believe getting inked together is a sign of solidarity. Most people bring their friends and loved ones to their first session. I organized this event with the help of fellow creatives—photographers, DJs, tattooers, writers, bloggers, Edris Bread—and sponsorship from Sailor Jerry and Inked Magazine. The event was promoted via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and on the One Billion Rising website. On the day of, a step and repeat backdrop and posters with important hashtags encouraged guests to tweet and post photos. The event raised close to $2k benefiting the Center Against Domestic Violence in Brooklyn, NY.
